The three rural collection sites

The county runs three monitored sites closer to home:

  • Paradise Valley on Kootenai Trail Road
  • Naples on Deep Creek Road (Old US Highway 95)
  • Junction / Copeland at Highway 95 and Highway 1

They open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and close Sundays. They take household garbage, recyclables, large bulky items, wood debris and metal, up to daily limits.

For residents, the rural sites take up to 600 pounds a day of household garbage, up to 1,000 pounds of wood waste and up to 600 pounds of large bulky items at no charge. Anything over those limits goes to the main landfill.

What gets recycled

Rinsed food and drink cans with the labels off, tin or aluminum, go in the recycling at the main landfill and the rural sites.

The county does not take these for recycling: plastic bottles and containers, flattened cardboard and paperboard, paper and newspapers, film plastics like bags, bubble wrap and cling wrap, foam, and glass.
