Effective date: October 28, 2026
Huck's Guide (hucksguide.com) is a local directory and guide for Bonners Ferry and Boundary County, Idaho. Huck's Guide is operated by Stonecreed Holding LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("Huck's Guide," "we," "us" or "our"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain words. If anything here is unclear, email us at hucksguide@use.startmail.com.
The short version
- You can read and search the site without an account.
- The site doesn't take job requests right now. We may offer them later.
- We never publish the name, phone number, email or address of anyone who sends a request.
- We don't sell personal information, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.
- You can ask us to show you, fix or delete the information we have about you.
Information you give us
Job requests. The site doesn't take job requests right now. We may offer them later.
When you list or update a business. The business name, what work you do, your town, phone number, email, website or Facebook page, whether you're taking new work, and anything else you send us. For a one-person business, some of this may also be personal information about the owner. We also record which page you started on, the website that sent you here (if any) and any campaign tags in the link.
When you contact us. What you write and how to reach you.
Information collected automatically
Server logs. Like almost every website, our hosting provider records basic technical details for each visit: IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time. We use them to keep the site running and secure.
Tap counts. We count taps on the Call, Website and Share buttons, along with which business or category they were for, which page and the date. We don't store your IP address, name or contact details with these counts. We use them to see which parts of the site help people. We may tell a business how many taps its own listing got.
Search words. When you use the search box, we save the words you typed, with numbers and email addresses removed, and the date. We don't save your IP address, name or anything else with them. We use them to learn what people call each kind of job, so the site can find the right businesses. We never publish the words people type.
Spam protection. To stop spam and floods of fake submissions, we briefly use your IP address to limit how many forms can be sent from one place. We don't keep it for this purpose. Submissions our spam checks block go into a small private log, which we delete after 30 days, so we can find a real message that was blocked by mistake.
Privacy signals. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal or a Do Not Track signal, we don't load Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity. Our own tap counts still run, but they never record who you are.
Cookies
The site works without cookies. We don't use advertising cookies.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. The site will still work.
The site also uses your browser's session storage (not a cookie) to remember which page you started on until you send a form. It's cleared when you close the tab.
How we use information
- To publish business listings and keep them accurate.
- To answer messages and requests to update or remove a listing.
- To run, protect and improve the site, and to stop spam, fraud and abuse.
- To tell a business how many taps its own listing got.
- To follow the law.
If we ever want to use information we already have in a very different way, we'll ask you first.
Who we share information with
Local businesses. We don't pass job requests to businesses right now. We may offer that later.
Service providers. Companies that help us run the site handle information for us: website hosting, our database, email delivery, analytics, and AI tools that help us review listings and prepare messages. They may use it only to do that work for us.
For legal reasons. If the law requires it, or if we need to protect someone's safety, our rights or the site, or to stop fraud.
If Huck's Guide changes hands. If the site is sold or merged, information may move to the new owner. The new owner must keep following this policy unless they tell you about changes first.
We don't sell personal information. We don't share it for targeted advertising.
Public information on the site
- Business listings are public. A listing can show the business name, town, the work it does, phone number, website, whether it's taking new work, and the date we last reviewed it. Home-based businesses show their town only, not a street address, unless the owner asks us to show it.
- Listing information comes from public business information and from businesses themselves. If something is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
- To update or remove a listing, use the Get listed form or email us. We'll take a listing off the site within 10 business days of a removal request. We keep a short private note that it was removed so it isn't added back by mistake.
How long we keep information
- Listings: while the business is listed. After removal, we keep only a short private note that the listing was removed.
- Logs and analytics: for the periods set in each service provider's settings.
Your choices
These choices are for everyone, wherever you live.
- See, fix or delete your information. Email hucksguide@use.startmail.com. We'll answer within 30 days. We may need to confirm it's really you first. When we delete your information, we may keep a short note that a listing was removed.
- Emails. Any email from us that isn't about your own request or listing has a way to opt out. You can also reply and ask us to stop.
- Analytics. Use a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track setting in your browser, block cookies, or use Google's opt-out add-on.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information, including encrypted connections, limited access and spam protection. No website can be perfectly secure. If a security problem exposes your request or contact details, we'll tell you.
Children
Huck's Guide is meant for adults. You must be 18 or older to send a request or list a business. The site isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Where information is kept
The site is run from the United States, and our own records are stored in the United States. Google, Microsoft and AI services may process data in other countries. The site is meant for people in the United States.
AI tools
We may use AI tools to help us review listings and prepare messages. These tools process information only to do that work for us.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change is important, we'll also note it at the top of this page for 30 days.
